Limber up people,
SOUL NIGHT no.9
is back on
Friday 22nd of September.
Where it's at:
The Slaughtered Lamb,
34-35 Great Sutton Street,
London, EC1V ODX
7.30pm - 1.00am
We'll be spinning Soul sounds old and new, Motown and Ska, along with a dash o' funky vintage treats too.
All in aid of Protecting The Human, for Amnesty International.
We've been dancing and raising money for Amnesty International since 2008.
The Mayfair and Soho Amnesty Group began their first Soul Night way back in 2008. On the day before the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. We raised a mammoth £900 that night, including a generous £100 from SAGE Publishing. Because the local Amnesty group was campaigning in the Middle East, we decided to send all the money to The Olive Tree Campaign in Palestine, and raised enough money to buy and plant 60 olive trees in the Gaza region: http://www.ial-pal.org
Following this success, we have arranged four more Soul Nights at the Slaughtered Lamb and raised over £3900. Usually all the money goes direct to Amnesty International, but we do sometimes put some of the donations towards other important issues. After the disasterous earthquake in Haiti, we decided to contribute half the proceeds (approx. £310) to the disaster appeal.
